New Phuket Governor to arrive from Maha Sarakham

PHUKET: Chokchai Detamornthan, the current Governor of Maha Sarakham Province in Northeast Thailand (Isan), will arrive in Phuket to take up the post of Governor of Phuket on October 1.

Chokchai Detamornthan, the current Governor of Maha Sarakham Province in Northeast Thailand (Isan), will take up the post of Governor of Phuket on October 1.

Chokchai Detamornthan, the current Governor of Maha Sarakham Province in Northeast Thailand (Isan), will take up the post of Governor of Phuket on October 1.

The Interior Ministry announced Governor Chokchai’s posting to Phuket today (Sept 13).

The announcement comes after a Cabinet meeting on held to announce the annual reshuffle of high-ranking government officials throughout the country.

The annual transfer include promoting 24 vice governors to governors, transfers of three governors and the announcement of three for Chief Inspectors at the Interior Ministry.

Mr Chokchai has served as Governor of Maha Sarakam since October 2, 2015. Prior to that he was Deputy Director of the Department of Local Administration in Bangkok for three years.

Chamroen Tipayapongtada, the current Governor of Phuket, will be transferred to the post of Governor of Nakhon Sri Thammarat province effective October 1. Gov Chamroen's transfer was announced on August 17. (See story here.)
