Capt Kraisorn Boonprasop of the Thalang Police was notified of the accident, near the Tha Ruea Shrine on Thepkrasattri Rd south of the Heroines Monument, at 2:30am.

Police arrived with Kusoldharm rescue workers to find a BMW that had struck a roadside streetlight sideways.

The driver, Pichet Thongtongkaew, 30, suffered a minor head injury.

Of his two passengers, Pichet Nualchuay, 33, suffered a broken left leg and Thanawit Salam, 21, suffered only minor injuries.

“The driver (Mr Pichet) said it was raining while they were heading to Phuket Town,” said Capt Kraisorn.

“When they reached the curve (in front of the Tha Ruea Shrine), he lost control of the vehicle and crashed,” he said.

Police have yet to confirm whether Mr Pichet will face any charges for the accident.

Stupid headline... "Wet road blamed...". Why no picture of the retarded driver and the police all pointing at the wet street? These types of headlines are truly indicative of a society that cannot admit responsibility for anything, including driving like idiots in inclement weather. These idiot drivers actually deserve to be injured, but it is unfortunate when their innocent passengers and other innocent people are hurt or killed by these morons.

Right, blame it on the rain.
I was almost killed this morning on my motorbike because a truck driver was speeding like a madman on the hill while it was raining. The guy had the audacity to honk at me...
Just put those idiots in jail, it will teach them a lesson.

All drivers should be instructed;
When it rains or, water on the road, SLOW DOWN !!! You may kill or cripple other people besides yourself. Also check for tire wear. If the grooves in tires are getting worn out it is much easier to slide or hydroplane on water, losing control. Keep air pressure in tires at proper amount for good grip on road.
Many accidents when water is on the ground. Don't lose your legs.
