The search follows a video of the attack posted on Facebook going viral last night. The video was uploaded onto the “Unite Thai Tour Guides – Thai Tour Guides Against Illegal Tour Guides” Facebook page. (See here.)
“We were informed of the video this morning and we have already assembled a team to track down the suspects,” Col Kitipong Klaikaew, chief of the Wichit Police, told The Phuket News this morning.
“One of the men injured in the attack filed a complaint at Wichit Police Station yesterday,” he said.
Col Kitipong also confirmed that one of the men attacked was a Thai tour guide working for a Chinese tour company, though he declined to name either of the two men attacked.
“The two men were assaulted as they left a restaurant in front of the Naka night market on Wirat Hongyok Rd at about 2am. We believe all the people involved had been drinking alcohol,” Col Kitipong asserted.
“We have yet to confirm the reason for the attack. The man who filed the complaint said that the four men accused him and his friend of of kicking one of their motorbikes.
“Regardless, we believe we will be able to track down and have the suspects in custody within a couple of days,” he added.
