After winning the plate last year, which was the clubs best ever finish in the event, it inspired the lads to go on and win their home tournament the Phuket International 10s last May 2015 for the very first time.
However, this year will be a tough assignment for the Vagabonds. Not only have the team lost some key players and friends who have since moved on to other places, they have also been drawn in the proverbial group of death, Group A.
By being drawn into Group A, not only have the Vagabonds been placed against the Jam Boys, an invitational side full of ex international and top club players whom they lost to in a feisty cup quarter final last year, but also the Sumitomo rugby from Japan and Gaulois A who were both in their group in the 2014 tournament. Let’s hope it’s not too much of a case of Deja-vu!
With an influx of new players and some old experienced hands, the Vagabonds will do their best to defend the trophy they won last year as competing against pro sides for the cup might well be a game to far.
The Vagabonds would like to thank Hooters Phuket for again sponsoring the side for the 2016 season.
Please keep checking The Phuket News for more details on the coming Phuket International 10s to be held later this year.
