Maj Somchai Nooboon of the Phuket City Police and Kusoldharm rescue workers received a report of an accident on Thepkassattri Rd southbound at the Bang Khu Underpass construction site in Koh Kaew where it was said that a motorbike had crashed into a railing.

Police were told that the impact of the crash had caused the motorbike to fly into a ditch leaving the driver and his passenger injured in the road.

Upon arrival at the scene, where the Italian Thai construction company had dug up the ground to install a water pipe, police found a Suzuki motorbike in the ditch.

Maj Somchai said, “The wrecked motorbike was inside a ditch which is about 2 metres wide and three metres deep.

“One victim who had suffered minor injuries was sitting on the road next to an unconscious man named as Kitikorn Meejor, 26. Both men were taken to Vachira Hospital.

“Residents said that yesterday workers brought a small backhoe to the site to dig the ground for water pipe installation. Workers put up some traffic cones there before leaving the site.

“We are waiting to question both men about the incident,” he concluded.
