World No.1 Djokovic and No.7 Nadal are due to arrive on seperate flights on Thursday and will play in the “Back to Thailand – Nadal vs Djokovic” match at Indoor Stadium, Hua Mark.
The exhibition match, with tickets offered for between B1,000 and B5,000 reportedly sold out within hours of being announced earlier this week.
The Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand (LTAT) has joined hands with CP Group and True Corporation to organise the historic 'Back to Thailand Nadal vs Djokovic' encounter on Oct 2 at the 5,000-seat Indoor Stadium, Hua Mark.
The exhibition match has proven to be a big hit with the local tennis fans as it accords them the first opportunity to see two of the biggest names in tennis world today face each other in Thailand.
"I am sure that this will have a positive impact on our economy and boost tourism in the country,'' Suwat Liptapanlop, president of the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand, told a press conference earlier this week.
"I'd like to thank Nadal and Djokovic for helping promote Thailand."
Suwat, who inspected Indoor Stadium yesterday, said Thailand was ready to welcome the duo.
Djokovic, who won three Grand Slam titles this year, and Nadal both played in the now-defunct Thailand Open but never met in the tournament. This will be the first time that the two superstars square off in the Kingdom.
On Friday morning, Djokovic and Nadal are scheduled to go to Siriraj Hospital to sign the get-well book for His Majesty the King before meeting Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha at Government House.
A farewell match for Danai Udomchoke will take place before the main event which is scheduled to start at 8.30pm.
Danai will team up with Noppawan Lertcheewakarn to face former world No.9 Paradorn Srichaphan and Tamarine Tanasugarn.
