At around 12pm, Krabi Marine Police received a call from the Keerasak fishing boat saying they had rescued a sinking speedboat, and those on board, near Koh Dang and Laem Hang Nak in Nogtalay district.

The one Thai and two Canadian nationals on board the speedboat had to be plucked from the sea by the fishing boat crew, and the sinking vessel was taken by the fishing boat back to Naporatthara beach.

The fishing boat captain, Sattaya Sekson, 29, told police that his boat was fishing near Koh Dang when they spotted the speedboat coming in from the direction of Railey Bay when it was flipped out of the water by a big wave.

“We saw three people fall into the sea and they were struggling. Within 15 minutes, 10 of our men had helped to pull them on board our vessel,” said the captain.

The three men from the speeadboat suffered minor injury but all were taken to Krabi Hospital as a precaution.

Police said that the speedboat was coming from Railey Bay heading toward Koh Hong when the rear of the vessel got slammed by a big wave causing the front to lift and flip.

They stated that all passengers from the speedboat were safe, however, they have contacted the owner of the speedboat to come in for questioning. They will also be checking the condition of the boat.
