The aquathon begins with a short swim in Thanyapura’s Olympic-sized pool, followed by a run through the sports complex, culminating back inside at the finish line amid friendly faces and enthusiastic cheering.
Children aged 4 to 5 years will swim 25 metres and run 200 metres. From ages 6 to 8 the distance will be a 100-metre swim and a 1-kilometre run. Children ages 9 to 12 will swim 200 metres and run 2 kilometres, and those aged 13 to 15 will swim 400 metres and run 4 kilometres.
The Anyman Aquathon event runs parallel with the SuperKidz Aquathon to ensure adults at any fitness level get their share of the action. Those aged 16 to 65 may participate as individual starters or as part of a two-person team to swim 500 meters and run 5 kilometers.
Both races are open to the public and are a great chance for everyone to have a crack at multisport in a world-class sports venue.
Thanyapura’s head triathlon coach Sergio Borges wants to get kids off the couch and outside for healthy physical activity.
He said: “SuperKidz is all about having fun, while building healthier and stronger bodies.
He added: “It doesn’t matter if your child is already an athlete or is just starting to engage in sports and outdoor activity. This event is great for all kids!”
