Given the blessings of Phuket Police Commander, Gen Patchara Boonyasit, a Phuket Drug Suppression unit, led by Pol Maj Littichai Chumchuai, last night arrestsed a 31-year-old small-time drug dealer at his home in Si Sunthon's Moo 2.
The suspect, named as Mr Atsanai "Bob" Jumnien was detained after a search of his home uncovered a bag of crystal meth, weighing 0.8 grams – 800 mg.
In the raid police also seized a "ice smoking device" (Ice is slang for crystal meth), B5,500 in cash, 20 plastic bags and an accountant book thought to be used to record drug deals.
Maj Littichai said that his team were tipped off yesterday that the suspect was dealing crystal meth and meth pills (Ya Ba).
Police accompanied an undercover agent in his private vehicle to pay a visit the home of the suspect, who was waiting unsuspecting.
Police got out from the car and identified themselves, declaring their suspicions before proceeding to search the house. The bag of crystal meth was found inside a carry bag which police found on a mattress inside a bedroom of the house.
The accountant book, bags and smoking device were also found in the room.
"The suspect has admitted that all the items were his. We believe the money was earned from selling drugs," said Major Littichai.
During an interrogation, the suspect reportedly told police that he'd gotten the drugs from a 25 year old man named only as Mr Om, who would deliver the drugs to the suspect's house via motorbike, at the rate of B1,000 per bag. The suspect would consume a portion of the drugs and sell off the rest to regular customers in the area, the police report said.
"We won't be able to expand the investigation [with only this information] as originally hoped," said Maj Litttichai.
Nonetheless, Bob was charged with possession of a Category 1 drug (Crystal Meth) with intent to sell and without permission.
