Government offices apart from police stations across the island are preparing for a four-day shutdown as the nation bid farewell to 2015 on Thursday, December 31 and will celebrate the New Year on Friday, January 1, followed by the weekend.

Phuket Immigration Office, Land Transport Department, Employment Office and all main banks will be closed on these four days as well as the District office.

The post office will be open until noon on New Year's Eve but will be closed on New Year's Day and the weekend. Shopping malls will remain open as usual but with only some banks open for business.

Most local consulates will be closed but will accept emergency calls.

There will be no alcohol bans on these days.

Happy New Year from The Phuket News.
