Thai Iron Chef mixes tradition with style

Phuket: Thai Iron Chef created a new signature dish for the island during the recent Andaman Hotelier trade show last month.

The Phuket Andaman Hotelier trade show at Limelight Avenue in Phuket Town kicked off on September 17, with hundreds of trade booths on display and a busy programme of special events.

Among the key events was Thai Iron Chef Chumpol Jangprai creating a new signature dish for the island to help put Phuket on the Unesco culinary map.

The Phuket signature dish that Chef Chumpol created was the “7 color lobster Phuket Noodles (Mee)”.

“The reason that I created this dish is because Phuket is well known for its Chinese-Thai heritage (Baba),” Chef Chupol told The Phuket News.

“I combined this with the authenticity of local seafood from the beautiful sea to create the overall dish.”

The dish is a combination of noodles, curry and seafood which highlights Phuket’s local traditions and taste.

The secret of Phuket’s signature dish is a specially created curry sauce, combined with a curry paste, local herbs and spice, alongside the delicious lobster, then served with Thai traditional noodles (Khanom Jeen).
