Since I work in the Internet of Things space I keep my eyes open for any interesting connected devices and try to imagine how they will impact the market in the coming year. This year is no different in that regard, but the sheer volume of connected devices being put on display is staggering.
The one thing all these devices, and services, all have in common is that they will augment our life in one way or another.
Their common goal is to help us communicate with our devices and make actionable decisions based off of the data provided. That data could lead to vast improvements in quality of life through any number of factors; such as reducing the amount of time it might take for us to perform a task, tracking our health, providing information for us to be more active or make adjustments in our diet.
Many of these devices can even save us money by helping manage our energy usage at home or improve fuel economy in our vehicles.
Judging by the enormous amount of connected devices we are seeing from CES this year, there is little doubt that IoT will have an even bigger impact on our day-to-day lives in 2015 than it did in 2014. With any luck, that will lead to some significant life improvements for many of us.
Until next time, stay connected.
