There are a number of factors that can be measured on a per vehicle basis to help improve specific metrics like fuel economy, safety, idle time and location just to name a few. As an individual user this can of course offer some savings over time as you are able to change your driving habits to help cut costs and location based features of telematics can help to provide a bit more security as well.
When these same features scale up to a business fleet the impact on the bottom line really begins to multiply. Improved real time analytics of both the vehicle’s performance and the driver’s behaviour allow a business to save money, better serve the customer and possibly safeguard the company image.
One company in Thailand is tackling these very issues across Southeast Asia, DRVR, pronounced “Driver” (drvr.co). Full disclosure here, I am an advisor to DRVR helping them to find even more innovative ways to disrupt the telematics market in Southeast Asia.
DRVR leverages the fundamentals of telematics and puts them in place to help inform people and businesses so they can make better decisions as a result of having easy, mobile access to better information. Being able to avoid sitting in traffic, know how far away the shuttle is from picking you up. Businesses can find out which drivers are pressing the gas a bit hard then educate them to help ease off the lead foot to save some fuel which means saving money.
The more devices that are connected, the more data is collected and the more insight can be gained. Everyone wants to improve the bottom line and having easy access to data analysis is one key to do it. Until next time, stay connected.
