The TCT side, captained by Craig Murphy, included first game player Darren Lee from the Aussie Pub in Kamala, and local umpire John King even donned the whites for TCT.
Darren Lee and John Sykes opened the batting after the captains agreed for the local team to bat first. Lee (20 runs) was the first man out, bowled by Adrian Salter in the 6th over. Mark Whetton (24 runs) kept the score ticking at over 5 runs an over after Sykes and Lane fell cheaply.
In the 16th over, BCB player Manish picked up 2 wickets to have his side in a strong position.
From 86/5 TCT’s lower order brought the score up to 154/8 from 27.1 overs.
John King added a further run to the total before the BCB captain Dale bowled King to end TCT’s innings on 155. (Whetton 24, McMillan 23, Murphy and Lee 20, Manish 3/17, Ben 2/10).
After the players ate a light lunch the run chase begun. Barrie Buck picked up 2 of the visitors wickets in the first over and very nearly had a third before the appeal was withdrawn from captain Murphy.
Buck was back in the action in the 4th over throwing down the stumps from side on to run out Steve (BCB).
British batsmen Ben and Sunish set about restoring the BCB innings. Aided by some inaccurate bowling they lifted the score to 34 runs before Ben was adjudged LBW off the bowling of Garry Lane in the 9th over.
The wicket brought BCB captain Dale to the crease. Dale (47 runs) had no trouble with the swinging orange ball and overcast conditions. He put his side back into the match but after he was dismissed in the 24th over BCB were unable to find enough boundaries and fell 28 runs short of TCT’s total.
