The order stated that the five officers had been negligent in allowing entertainment venues to open near Chiang Mai University and operate beyond the limited hours in violation of an order, dated July 22, of the National Council for Peace and Order.

The five officers transferred were: Pol Col Mongkol Sampawapol, deputy superintendent of Chiang Mai police; Pol Col Vajira Kanchanawipada, chief of Chang Phuak police station; Pol Lt Col Sitthporn Buasuk, deputy chief of Chang Phuak police station; Pol Lt Col Jirathipong Lertviriyanant, suppression chief of Chang Phuak police station; and Pol Maj Narongchai Ekachan, investigation chief of Chang Phuak police station.

They were to report to the RTPO's operational centre by 9am today (August 10).

The transfer followed recent raids on entertainment venues near Chiang Mai University.
