Work to resurface the roads at the beleaguered construction site began on June 19, with statement of intent to complete the road surfacing within 20 days. (See story here.)
However, intermittent heavy downpours during the past month forced the workers to breach that deadline, Highways Department Project Engineer Chalermpol Wongkiettikun told The Phuket News today.
“At this stage, completing the roads above and around the Sam Kong Underpass will be finished around mid-August – if no more rain slows us down,” he said.
“Today workers started laying asphalt on the road in front of Aphrodite. If no rain affects work there, this section should be finished by next week. The resurfacing of the roads is progressing very slowly at that section due to the number of buses coming to Aphrodite.” he added.
“After we complete this section, we will resurface the road in front of Wat Sam Kong and then front of Thanachart Bank,” Mr Chalermpol said.
