Russian tourist, 60, rushed to hospital following accident at Phuket water park

PHUKET: A 60-year-old Russian tourist was rushed to hospital following an injury he had sustained while playing at a popular water park on the north of the island.

The Phuket News understands that the tourist, who has been named as Viktor Gaidaev,

Staff at the waterpark told The Phuket News that the incident had occured on a ride known as the Superbowl.

Near the bottom of it he slipped off the inflatable ring he was riding and wrenched his back.

He was taken to hospoital as a precaution, and was later released. He's back in his hotel. 

According to initial reports, water park staff had notified Vachira’s Emergency Hotline (1669) at about 11.45am yesterday, and the man was rushed to hospital where doctors tended to him by bout 12.33pm.

The man has since been released, staff said.
