Phattaya "Ann" Prom-in was caught in Nakhon Sawan on Thursday (July 30) and charged with assaulting 25-year-old Russian tour guide Maxim Belonozhko in Pattaya.
Pol Col Sukkhathat Pumpanmuang, the police in the Chon Buri city, took the suspect to Pattaya police station for the Russian guide to identify, Thai media reported.
On July 22, Mr Belonozhko arrived bleeding at the Pattaya Police Station around 3:45am. He said two transgenders had propositioned him near Soi 6/1 on Pattaya Beach and, after taking them to a nearby hotel, he discovered his Apple iPhone 4 and about B10,000 were missing. When he tried to search the two men in skirts, they resisted and one took a box cutter to his face before fleeing.
The Russian received first aid and was transported to Banglamung Hospital.
Police found the blood-stained blade in the room and learned that one of the prostitutes went by the name of "Ann" and was about 25 years old.
During the interrogation, Mr Phattaya confessed to slashing the Russian's face with a cutter. He claimed the man had allegedly refused to pay him B1,000 for sex service as agreed. He became angry and this drove him to cut his face, claimed the suspect. He later went into hiding in his home province.
The suspect insisted he had not stolen the iPhone and cash as accused, saying he just took B100.
Police initially charged him with nighttime theft and causing physical or mental harm to the victim. He was held in police custody for legal action.
