Rosewood Phuket appoints Andrew Turner as Managing Director

PHUKET: Ultra-luxury resort brand Rosewood Hotels & Resorts will mark the brand’s entry into Thailand – and Asia – in the first quarter of 2017 with the opening the Rosewood Phuket, with Andrew Turner at the helm as Managing Director.

Australian-born Mr Turner has 22 years’ experience managing both city hotels and resorts in Thailand, Australia, China, Egypt, Ireland, Qatar and the United States.

For 10 years before joining Rosewood, he held hotel general manager positions, most recently at Baccarat Hotel & Residences in New York, as well as at Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas; Anantara Sanya Resort; Lough Eske Castle of Capella Hotel Group; and The Ritz-Carlton, Sharm El Sheikh.

Previously, he worked in a number of The Ritz-Carlton hotels as hotel manager and executive assistant manager of rooms.

The Rosewood Phuket has been a long time coming, with the initial announcement dating back to 2012 (See story here).

Located on 600 metres of beachfront on Tri Trang Beach (referred to by Rosewood as “Emerald Bay”), just to the north of the Merlin Beach Resort, the resort will feature 71 villas and 32 residences.

The complex’s four restaurants will include a rustic Thai restaurant on the beach built with recycled teakwood; a casual poolside eatery; a bistro; and a terrace bar.

Recreational facilities will include the brand’s signature Sense, A Rosewood Spa; beachside organic-form pools and a lap pool; a gymnasium; yoga pavilion and children’s club, while the wedding pavilion with private outdoor garden will be able to accommodate up to 100 people.

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts manages 18 luxury properties in 11 countries and has 15 new hotels under development with the aim of doubling its number of hotels in operation by 2020.

The Rosewood collection includes some of the world’s most respected hotels and resorts, including The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel in New York, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas and Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel in Paris, as well as new classics such as Rosewood Beijing.
