It is also hoped that the tournament will promote sport on the island.
The seven-a-side tournament is part of the ongoing ‘Phuket City of Soccer” launched by Phuket FC and Phuket educational institutions to cultivate the love of sport among youths.
Speaking on behalf of Phuket FC Chairman Pramuke Atchariyachai, Vice president of Phuket Chamber of Commerce Jirawit pitikulsathit, who presided over the opening ceremony said, “I would like to thank Mr Pramuke for valuing sport, especially football, and helping to promote sport activities to students and youths. I hope that all participating teams respect the rules, maintain good manners, learn to value teamwork and give their best performances.”
Guest of honor at the opening ceremony included representative from Attaporn Jaisomkom from Chang International Co Ltd, and recent winners of Mizsy Phuket 2015 and Miss Republic Phuket 2015 Amanda ‘Heidi’ and Nasaree ‘Nat’ Mungsuree.
Schools competing in this year’s Republic Phuket Youth League 2015 include Phuket City (OrBorJor), BISP Cruzeiro Academy, Chalermprakiet, Thalang, Phuket Wittayalai Team A, Muslim Wittaya,Dowrung Wittaya, Ao Kapor and Phuket Wittayalai B.
Phuket Wittayalai School currently lead the way in the league, the final of which will be held on Sunday (Dec 6) with the winning team taking home prize money of B60,000.
