The Kinaree camp was one of 200 around the country that entered the Triennial Elephant Award of Excellence, with entrants rated on the health of the elephants and on the “quality of life” in the camps.
The Kinaree camp, which opened 12 years ago on more than 60 rai of land with 21 elephants, attracts some 200 tourists a day.
Jaroong Taochan, the delighted director and general manager of the camp, said, “This award is the biggest I’ve received.”
The award was presented to the camp by Chumphon Silapa’archa, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism and Sports.
