Acting on a tip-off from undercover officers, said police, officers raided the home in Phrabaramee 8 Rd at 4:30pm and arrested local resident, Somchai Wichardee, 47.
Police found an illegal homemade handgun (“Thai Pradit”) and six shotgun cartridges, which the gun had been configured to fire.
Somchai was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The raid marked the beginning of a pre-Christmas anti-drug and crime campaign from December 18-24, explained Patong Police Chief Col Chaiwat Uikum.
“We are targeting all areas and people suspected of involvement with drugs and other illegal activities,” Col Chaiwat said.
