“We are still receiving reports of Portuguese man o’ war being spotted at Mai Khao Beach and at the southern end of Bang Tao, but only a small number of them have been found,” Phuket Lifeguard Chief Prathaiyut Chuayuan told The Phuket News.
“Even though the number being found is decreasing, lifeguards are still patrolling the beaches for these and advising beachgoers to be aware of the danger, especially along Nai Thon and Nai Yang beaches in Sirinath National Park area where we have found the most,” he said.
Mr Prathaiyut pointed that he had received only one report of a person suffering any reaction after coming into contact with a Portuguese man o’ war – the tourist who broke into a rash where the tentacles came into contect with the left leg. (See story here.)
