Pol Capt Santichai Srimai from Thalang Police received a call at 11:50pm last night to investigate a shooting that occurred opposite the Srisoonthon Municipality office on the northbound side of Thepkassattri Rd.
Upon arrival, police found the wounded man, 34-year-old Rawi Suksomran from Thalang with gunshot wounds to his chest, leg and buttocks.
Rescue workers initially took Mr Rawi to Thalang Hospital for treatment, however, he began having breathing difficulties so was transferred to Mission Hospital.
Capt Santichai said, “We found the victim’s motorbike lying on the road and there was a 9mm bullet case nearby.
“We were told that the victim was riding his motorbike past Heroine’s Monument heading towards the Thalang junction when he was shot. Witnesses said they heard three gunshots and then saw the man fall from his motorbike into the road so they called us,” he said.
“At this time we are still investigating and looking at CCTV for any evidence of the suspect/s. We have to wait for the victim to recover from his injuries before we can question him about the shooting,” Capt Santichai added.
