According to reports, the explosion occurred after someone tried to put out their cigarette on an explosive device that was left at the station. The device was actually a glass bottle filled with gunpowder, colloquially known as a “ping pong bomb”, according to Khao Sod Online.

The two men were part of a group that were waiting to board a southbound train.

Both men, named as 25-year-old Thanong Maisao and 30-year-old Lamai Uamsap-ngam, are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

CCTV footage of the explosion is available and has already been posted online along with photos.
