The intense Plate final match saw the Vagabonds defeate Malaysian-side Serdang Angels, a team that took the lead early 14-0 before Vagabonds' Percy Haban broke thorugh with a score.

Following another try by Serdang, the Vagabonds rallied and with two minutes left in the match, Michael Whippy and Percy Habana teamed-up for three quick tries. Steven Cox went over in the last play of the game to seal a dramatic 26-19 victory and claim the Plate to finish third overall.

The trophy was presented to the Vagabonds by All Black 7s legend Lote Raikabula

Still, the victory was a consolation after the Bangkok heat and injuries took their toll on a resilient Vagabonds team. The Vagabonsds lost the semi final Cup match against Malaysian-side KPM 26-10.
