During this time the system will lose around 420cu/m of natural gas per day. This will affect the main electrical power plant in Songkhla that depends on the MTJDA-A 18 for fuel. Government officials and residents are advised to be aware of the situation and help save energy to prevent black outs happening in the southern provinces.
However, should problems arise, the Ministry of Energy have assured that they will assist affected areas.
Director of Operations and Maintenance of the Phuket Electricity Authority (PEA) Southern Division, Phanumas Limpsuwan, has stated that the PEA and EGAT will only have 2,828 megawatts of power left from central provinces to feed the south.
However, he belives this will be enough to prevent blackouts because most people only use electricity beteen 6:30pm-10:30pm.
Meanwhile, Phuket Vice Governor Dr Pallop Singhasaenee said, “Residents can help save power by turning off lights, adjusting their air-conditioner unit levels, and unplugging unused electrical equipment.
He added that all businesses try to reduce their power usage between 6:30pm-10:30pm from July 21-25.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the electrical distribution issue call the PEA Call Centre on 1129 anytime.
