The rematch follows a 4-4 draw in Khon Kaen last week (see story).
And for much of the match, it was looking like the two sides would play out to another stale mate with back and forth play seeing plenty of opportunities on both sides of the pitch.
Phuket broke the ice with a signature bicycle kick goal from “Action” Jackson Santos (#5), but Khon Kaen answered with goals from Nopadon Kokpermsup (#13) and Apiwat Jonkoh (#8), to put the visitors ahead 2-1 at half time.
In the opening minute of the second half, new signing Sutiporn Kludcharoen (#19) from Nonthaburi found the equalizer, which was followed by two fantastic goals by Kittipong Sonswuwan to put the home team up 4-2.
Led by former Phuket Coach, Mor Pak (Northeastern University) Khon Kaen Futsal club wasn’t giving in that easily though, and answered with two goals from Prapat Pensawat (#20) and Wacharapon Pitak (#21).
But it was Phuket to get the final hoorah, with Sutiporn scoring his double, topped off with a goal by Thanakorn Piyaprichayut (#10). Final score: 6-4 to Phuket.
With 26 points, Phuket are still in 4th place of the FTPL, but trail third placed Bangkok by only one point, and second placed Siam Navy by four.
The Andaman Pearl now hit the road for a Sunday (June 28) match up with 12th placed Nonthaburi, the old team of Phuket’s newest leading scorer, Sutiporn, who is joint 3rd in the race for golden boot with 13 goals.
Phuket’s second leading scorer, Jackson Santos is in 4th of the race with 12 goals.
The Andaman Pearl’s next home match will be a midweek fixture on Wednesday, July 1 against Si Pathum Si Saket. Kick off is set for 7pm.
