Phuket shuttle bus left hanging

PHUKET: Chalong Municipality could have been a pier shuttle bus less today (May 26) when heavy winds blew one to the edge of a section of the pier with no railings leaving it dangling on the edge at its tipping point. Luckily there was nobody was on board at the time of the incident.

Chalong Municipality received a call at 10am from the Provincial Tourist Assistance Centre stating that a witness reported that winds had swept one shuttle bus which was parked in front of the Yacht Control Centre to the side of the pier leaving it hanging over the edge.

“We were told that the bus slid off the side of the pier and that its rear-end hanging over the water. People were afraid it would tip into the sea,” said Mr Supawatkan Kunnaluck of Chalong Municipality.

Chalong Municipality officials led by Mr Supawatkan went to the scene to find the wooden shuttle bus (Phothong) with half of its body dangling off the pier.

“Workers used a crane and rope to pull the bus onto the pier,. Luckily nobody was on board at that time,” Mr Supawatkan added.
