By the time police arrived in answer to an emergency call at 8:30pm, local rescue workers were already patching up 10-centimetre gash in 26-year-old Maetri Yam’men's head and another of similar length on his right arm.
He told officers, “I went to the bathroom and six teenagers came in and ganged up on me. They slashed by head and arm with a knife and then left on motorcycles."
Mr Maetri said he had no idea why the gang had attacked him, adding that he had no quarrels with anyone. After getting details of the attack from him, police sent him to Thalang hospital to be stitched up.
Police alerted checkpoints in the area to be on the lookout for the gang.
