Lt Col Salis Buthnongsaeng from Tha Chatchai police told The Phuket News this morning that the driver of the rubbish truck, 62-year-old Burohem Kijchamnan has been charged with reckless driving causing death.
He said, “This is unfortunate incident, Burohem insists that he did not see the motorbike drive next to his truck when the collision took place. After investigating the incident, we have charged Burohem with reckless driving. It is now down to the court to decide what penalty he will face.-”
The incident happened at around 6pm on June 9 when the motorbike and its driver, 79-years-old Mr Mee Domluck were allegedly crushed by the yellow Mai Khao OrBorTor rubbish truck. (See story here.)
Mai Khao OrBorTor Chief Sarawut Srisakukam added that his office has already taken care of a compensation payment to the deceased’s family.
“We have already paid some compensation to help with the family with funeral expenses. We will now wait until the family is ready to further discuss a compensation payment in relation to Mr Mee’s death,” said Mr Sarawuth.
