Phuket resort venue for handover of 25 stolen Malaysian vehicles

PHUKET: The Royal Thai Police yesterday handed over to Malaysian police 25 luxury cars which had been stolen from Malaysia and driven across the border into Thailand.

They were handed over at the 23rd-annual meeting of Thai and Malaysian police being held May 11-14 at the Westin Siray Bay Resort and Spa Hotel in Phuket.

The Royal Thai Police(RTP) and Royal Malaysia Police work toghether in nine crime areas; terrorism, drugs, arms dealing, human trafficking, vehicle crime, crimes which affect both countries, financial & digital crimes and pirating.

Police General Somyot Pumpunmuang, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police Police yersterday signed an agreement with Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar Inspector General of Royal Malaysia Police for the countries to continue to work together and exchange information.

Gen Somyot said, “Because Thailand and Malaysia have cooperated together we have managed to arrest the theives and sieze 25 cars stolen from Malaysia. This year we have returned a total of 45 cars to their owners in Malaysia including the 25 here today.”
