Vice Governor Chokdee Amornwat speaks at Tuesday's meeting about construction of the flyover.

Vice Governor Chokdee Amornwat held a meeting on Tuesday (Mar 1) to discuss construction of the flyover together with Phuket Highways Office Director Samak Lueduanghad, Deputy Chief of Koh Kaew OrBorTor Monkul Kumbaan, Koh Kaew Moo 5 Village Headman Wattana Thinkohkaew and others.

Speaking about the halt on the construction of the flyover, Mr Samak said, “Despite us getting more than 118 signatures in supporting of the project, there are a number of people and businesses in the area who do not want it.

“In view of this, the Koh Kaew OrBorTor want to move the original construction area, which is in front of the M Plus Outlet, to another location. Therefore, we have asked Ital-Thai Development Co, who were contracted to carry out the work, not to proceed until a new location has been found,” he said.

“The flyover will be of great benefit to the Koh Kaew community and will also help with traffic congestion. However, for us to build the flyover we need full support from local residents, businesses and all departments involved,” he added.
