At 10:30am today (May 12), Phuket Provincial Transportation Office̕s Theerayut Prasertpol revealed that his office will hold the auction for the rare 301 KorYor licence plates, which can only be placed on vehicles that seat less than 7 people, from 9am on May 23-24 at the Phuket Merlin Hotel̕s Jamjuree Room.
The person with the highest bid will have the chance to pick whatever licence plate number they want and money raised from the auction will go towards road safety campaigns and a charity for victims of road accidents.
The LTO donated B400,000 to charity from last year̕s 9th auction to assist 11 road accident victims and also paid for wheelchairs and artificial legs for those injured in road accidents. Money also went towards various road safety campaigns and activities.
Last year̕s event was very successful with over 336 people bidding. The most popular number was KorMor 9999 which was bought for B1,030,000, and second was KorYor 8888 for B700,000. The total amount receieved from bids was B23,660,000.
For the 10th licence plate auction the LTO expects to make at least B23M and they hope that many people will attend.
