At 2:30pm, Cherng Talay police were called to a branch of Family Mart after receiving a report that a woman, Rungtip Samran, 46, had had a gold necklace taken from around her neck whilst riding her motorbike.

When police arrived they found a black shoe belonging to the thief at the side of the road which had fallen off when he drove away on his motorbike.

Ms Rungtip told police that the thief grabbed her necklace as she was driving to the Family Mart with her three-year-old daughter.

"A man, who was between 25-35-years-old, came and drove his motorbike beside us. He snatched my gold necklace from around my neck when we got close to the Family Mart.

"He sped away towards the Heroines Monument on Srisoonthon Rd," said Ms Rungtip.

Police suspect that the thief had spotted Ms Rungthip wearing the necklace and followed her. He then grabbed the necklace at his earliest chance before speeding away.

The theft was carried out by an expert police said.

Police are now looking for the thief to bring him in for questioning.
