Ms Sukanya describes the incident to an officer at Thalang Police Station.

Lt Col Sanit Nookong received a call at 10:15pm about theft that had taken place at Baan Tha Ruea near Heroines Monument on Thepkassattri Rd where the suspect had grabbed a woman’s bag and taken off on his motorbike.

Items in the bag included B1,600 cash, an iPhone 4S, credit cards, identification card and more.

Police arrived at a sala near the main road to find the victim, Sukanya Koisinsok, 40, standing next to her Honda Wave motorbike.

Ms Sukanya told police that prior to her husband dropping her off at the sala to catch the Hat Yai bus to go to Malaysia a teenager wearing white shirt had followed them on an unknown model of motorbike.

“He caught up with us and snatched my bag out of the front basket and sped away heading north.”

Lt Col Sanit revealed that since the incident happened at night Ms Sukanya did not recognise the make or model of the suspect’s motorbike. However, he said police were looking for any man riding a motorbike, wearing a white shirt and heading toward Thalang or Cherng Talay, but officers had so far not found anyone that fitted that description.

“We will look at CCTV in and around the area as maybe the suspect was captured on one of those. Hopefully we'll find the suspect,” he said.
