Kathu police were carrying out an anti-drug and -crime campaign from August 24 – 28, and at 6pm yesterday officers closed off an area in the soi Khokmoo community on Mein-ngern Rd where illegal activity is known to take place and arrested Sommart Wandee with two home made rifles.
Kathu policeʼs Lt Suthichai Tienpo said that the arrest of Sommart came after police received complaints from local residents that they heard the sound of gun fire coming from the suspectʼs home several times this month.
“We searched the suspectʼs home and found two home made rifles, three wooden stocks and other tools for making guns,” Lt Suthichai said.
Sommart was taken to Kathu police station where he was charged with illegal possession of firearms.
