The man was later found to be in possession of methamphetamine tablets (ya bah) and ya ice said to be worth over B3 million.

The arrest was announced at a press held at Phuket City Police at 4pm today (July 22).

At the press conference it was revealed that 31-year-old Supachai Phaipetch was found in possession of 6,187 ya bah pills, 521.60 grams of ya ice, a .45mm automatic pistol, one magazine and other seized items.

“The arrest of Supachai came after police received a tip-off from undercover officers that he has been selling drugs in the Rassada area,” Provincial Police Deputy Superintendent Col Cherdsak Boonnatda who held the press conference explained.

Lemongrass House

“Officers set up a sting operation where undercover officer contacted Suphachai and arranged to buy 5g of ya ice from him for B6,000. Suphachai agreed to deliver the drugs at a 7eleven store on Rassadanusorn Rd in Rassada,” Col Cherdsak said.

“At the arranged drop off time, a team of officers led by Lt Naruebadin Bangleesen approached the suspect, searched him and found the 5g of ya ice.

“Suphachai then led police to his room at the nearby The Square Condo where police conducted a search and discovered the rest of the drugs and others items,” he added.

Suphachai is to be charged with possession of a Category 1 drug with intent to sell and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Ad hominem, "empty vessel", and moving the goalposts,"your country, too...," are both universally recognized as poor debating tactics.

I did answer ematt regarding his comment 'Thai culture and society', as well his question about drugs.
Obviously that Joe12 has no own opinion/comment on the subject.
Well,he never has.

ematt, I think Kurt knows it happens in "his" country, and many other countries, but Kurt is smart enough, unlike you, to know this story is solely on Thailand, hence all comments should be solely on Thailand. Sad when people, like yourself, need to "try" and score useless points.

ematt you in Kurt's country has illegal weapons, nor murders anyone.

ematt: One doesn't need to be a expert on thai culture and society as he/she can read daily in thai newspapers about drugs and many times combined with possession of fire arms and the use of it!.
But, is that what you call 'thai culture and society', ematt?

The thought of a thai minister to legalize certain soft drugs is not a bad idea.
In USA are already a few states practicing that, as The Netherlands is doing as well.
In The Netherlands are soft drugs shops ( called : coffee shops), you can buy there legally for personal use good quality soft drugs.
Probably some more countries?
We talk about soft drugs, yes?
Results are good, governments have a better picture of what is going on, and criminality figures drop.
More and more European countries slowly adapt the dutch practice and see positive results.

A very different thing from this guy, shown on the Photo, with all his business, including weapons, in front of him.

I am sure many good thai people condemn that and will say that it has nothing to do with thai culture, and certainly not accept it as a society thing. ( thinking about their children).

Kurt: Another foreign expert on Thai culture and society. Um, no one sells drugs in your country?

A first class thai criminal, drugs and armed. To lazy to work normally.
Hope he gets a first class sentence.

And after he get released from prison, Kick him permanent off Phuket if Phuket is not his home town.

This kind of thai are not contributing to TAT ideas for getting more quality tourists.

Phuket seems to be sinking under the drugs and weapons.
Thai youth gang start killing each other already at age of 15, 16 years old. ( see other yesterday story)
