The man was later found to be in possession of methamphetamine tablets (ya bah) and ya ice said to be worth over B3 million.
The arrest was announced at a press held at Phuket City Police at 4pm today (July 22).
At the press conference it was revealed that 31-year-old Supachai Phaipetch was found in possession of 6,187 ya bah pills, 521.60 grams of ya ice, a .45mm automatic pistol, one magazine and other seized items.
“The arrest of Supachai came after police received a tip-off from undercover officers that he has been selling drugs in the Rassada area,” Provincial Police Deputy Superintendent Col Cherdsak Boonnatda who held the press conference explained.
“Officers set up a sting operation where undercover officer contacted Suphachai and arranged to buy 5g of ya ice from him for B6,000. Suphachai agreed to deliver the drugs at a 7eleven store on Rassadanusorn Rd in Rassada,” Col Cherdsak said.
“At the arranged drop off time, a team of officers led by Lt Naruebadin Bangleesen approached the suspect, searched him and found the 5g of ya ice.
“Suphachai then led police to his room at the nearby The Square Condo where police conducted a search and discovered the rest of the drugs and others items,” he added.
Suphachai is to be charged with possession of a Category 1 drug with intent to sell and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
