Thalang police were called to the scene of the shooting, a house in Moo Baan Naramit in Pa Khlok, at 12:15am.

Lt Suporn Muangkhai arrived at the scene with his team and found a pool of blood on the parking space in front of the house. Police also found six 9mm bullet casings near a fence.

Inside the house, police found two bullet holes in a glass door and a window, and nearby were two bullet tips.

The home owner, Aree Chioyboonchoo, told police that her husband, Juong, 77, had been shot in the left cheek and left shoulder. Rescue workers had already taken him to Thalang hospital.

Ms Aree told police that her 28-year-old son-in law Thanyawat Mudshimwong, husband to her daughter Pathikorn Chioyboonchoo, who live at Moo Baab Suriyaporn Place in Chalong came to the house at midnight.

When Mr Juong opened the door Thanyawat fired the gun and shot him. Thanyawat fled the scene in a Toyota Fortuner.

Ms Pathikorn told police that Thanyawat has a hot temper. “We had an argument on the phone and he threatened to kill everyone in my family before hanging up. He then came to my parentʼs house and shot my father.”

Police are now looking for Thanyawat and once found will charge him for attempted murder.

Mr Juong has since been transferred to Vachira Hospital where he is in a stable condition and recovering from his injuries.
