At around noon, La Ngoo police in Satun were called to investigate an accident in which a car had crashed into a roadside electricity pylon on La Ngoo-Tungwah Rd in Satun̕s La Ngoo district.
Police and rescue workers arrived to find a wrecked Songkhla registered brown Nissan smashed into an electric pylon at the side of the road. Inside the vehicle police found the body of the driver trapped between her seat and the dashboard.
Police said they found an ID card in the car identiying the victim as Pensiri Klabjai, a 34-year-old lawyer from Rassada, Phuket.
The victim had been driving from downtown Satun via La Ngoo-Tungwah Rd, heading towards Trang.
The crash occurred on a sharp bend. Police theorised that the victim came to the bend at high speed and missed it, or that she fell asleep at the wheel while driving. However, their investigation of the crash continues.
Rescue workers took the body to La Ngoo hospital for autopsy before contacting the victim̕s family.
