Mr Arela, 64, is father to well-known Filipino musician in Phuket Ranel Arela.

“My father is still in a coma at Vachira Hospital after he suffered a stroke with multiple ischemia last Thursday (Sept 22),” Ranel told The Phuket News.

“We need help. All donations will go towards paying medical medical bills,” he said.

“One of our friends referred the case to a brain surgeon in Italy, and he said that my father needs a medicine called ‘Actovigen’ as soon as possible to supply sugar to the brain,” Ranel explained.

“Every minute is important. Please help us to get the medicine. We need help and all donations from the fundraiser tonight will go to paying medical bills.

“I hope to see you there, and I thank you from my heart,” he said.

The fundraiser jazz jam session will be held from from 9pm to 2am tonight.
