PHUKET: With an increasing number of guests from China visiting Phuket every year, local businesses are making adjustments.

One example is the upmarket Paresa Resort on Millionaires Mile in Kamala, which now accepts payment using the China Union Pay (CUP) card.

CUP is the only domestic bank card organisation in Mainland China. Founded in 2002, it is also the only interbank network in China and is now accepted in more than 100 countries worldwide.

In Thailand, CUP cards may also be used to withdraw cash from KasikornBank and TMB ATMs.

“This is just the latest addition to our guest experience at Paresa,” said Scot Toon, the resort’s general manager. “We are always evolving and adjusting our services and experiences to meet our guests’ needs, no matter where in the world they come from.”

Additional services at Paresa’s dining outlets and villas are being rolled out in the coming weeks, Mr Toon said, including hiring more staff who speak Chinese languages.
