A source among the walk-outs told The Phuket News that staff had been paid only 25 per cent of the amount they believed they would receive.
Today, however, in negotiations between the management of the resort and the labour union, the matter was resolved and staff are now back at work, a management statement said.
“Our resort management team has been communicating with the local union to discuss staff remuneration concerns for 2015,” the statement explained.
“Some of our colleagues decided to halt work yesterday but after meaningful discussions onsite with the [labour] union president, we have been able to put the matter to [rest], with all colleagues having returned to work today.
“We are committed to ensuring the welfare of all employees and are confident that we can safeguard the best interests of all concerned parties through continuous open dialogue.
“Resort operations are as normal and we continue to focus on delivering great service and providing a warm environment for our guests.”
