Paiboon, who was the highest elected official in Phuket as the President of the Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation (PPAO or OrBorJor), died yesterday morning at 1:09am at the Thonburi Hospital in Bangkok.

The revered politician/businessman had been suffering from colon cancer for several years, and finally lost the battle at age 58 (see original story here).

The funeral will be conducted in accordance with Thai Christian practices, in which family, friends, associates and the general public will be invited to conduct traditional water blessing rites and prayer at Mr Paiboon's home, across the street from Surakul Stadium, on Vichit Songkhram Rd.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 2pm today and will last between 5 and 7 days, before a burial service is held in accordance with Mr Paiboon's Christian faith.
