Played at the Ayuthaya Provincial Stadium, the match was both side’s 14th of the 38-fixture 2015 season. With 20 points, Phuket were sitting in 5th place while Ayuthaya were dead last with only 9 points.
The match’s only goal came early on, from an Ayuthaya corner kick in the sixth minute. The Ronins’ deflected the initial ball, but Ayuthaya defender Sittichai Trisin was quick to capitalize on the second ball, heading it in to the delight of some 2,300 home fans.
Despite a handful of chances from both sides, the 1-0 scoreline remained through to the final whistle.
As a result, Ayuthaya moved up one spot into 19th place, while Phuket dropped into 9th place.
Even though only 2 points separate the Ronins from 2nd placed Ang Thong, getting three points this weekend against top-of-the-table Police United (33 points) will not be an easy feat for Phuket.
Let’s hope Phuket FC will be ready for Police United this Sunday (June 28), with kick off at Surakul Stadium slated for 7pm.
