According to reports from the team, the starting striker did not sustain any serious injuries.
Following a 1-0 loss to Sriracha FC, Mr Watcharapong’s car flipped over while driving home to Thung Yi District, in Nakhon Sri thammarat province, according assistant coach Choochai Angkabaew.
The 27-year-old’s car flipped over on it’s side after he reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and hit a tree, Mr Angkabaew indicated.
“After dinner in Phuket Town, he drove his car back to his house in Nakhon Sri Thammarat“Mr Angkabaew said “he fell asleep and crashed into a tree beside the road.”
The accident occurred near his home a little after 3am, Mr Angkabaew said, adding that the player got out of the car by himself and phoned his wife and mother for help.
“His wife came to see and pick him up, they went to the hospital together. He doesn’t know how long he was unconscious but he’s really lucky and only get a little bit of injury in his shoulder since there was big damage to the car” Mr Angkabaew said.
Team doctors are still deciding whether to clear Mr Watcharapong to play Saturday’s match against Suphan Buri and further medical evaluations are planned for later today. He is expected to attend the team’s Tuesday afternoon practice, Mr Angkabaew said.
