The Ronins had few chances, with only a handful of shots wide or above the target in addition to two light-weight shots on target throughout the match.
It was the home team – the same squad who had recently held the likes of Police United and Pattaya United to draws – who had many more chances on target.
But as would have it, Phuket's reserve keeper Natchanon Jothaworn proved himself as a smart choice on the starting and finishing 11, denying a dozen runs and deadly free kicks by Samut Songkhram.
If a man of the match were named, The Phuket News does not think any other player would deserve the award more.
The point temporarily moved the Samut Songkhram "Fighting Mackerel" up a spot to 14th from 15th, while Phuket remain in 16th of the 20-side Yamaha League One, rankings of which may change depending on matches tonight.
Meanwhile, Phuket FC next head up to Chiang Mai to take on the "Lanna Tigers" next Sunday, September 20, before returning to Phuket for their next home match on September 27 against Prachuap FC.
