The second round match-up was attended by 4,300 fans, a record turnout for the Ronins so far this year.
Once again, it was Ney Fabiano to put the Ronins on the scoreboard first, when in the 15th minute the seasoned Brazilian forward drove the ball into the back of the net, from a pass from left winger Eakartit Somjit.
The score remained 1-0 in favor of the home team going into half time.
Just five minutes into the second half, the visitors’ Spanish import Gorka Velasco scored an equalizer through a beautiful strike on from just outside the box.
But in the 75th minute Phuket struck back when Anusak Laosenthai, assisted by Yusuke Sato, scored on a set play.
Despite five minutes of extra time, neither side could find the net in the remainder of the match.
Phuket’s next match will be an away fixture on March 8 against YL1 upstarts Angthong FC.
