Sinbi owner Somchai Bimmad told The Phuket News that this was the sixth charity event the gym had held since it opened seven years ago.
Mr Somchai said he didn’t personally know Chalam, but had seen his story on television and wanted to help.
Chalam was left seriously injured after two road accidents. The first left him in a wheelchair, but he was still able to drive using a special scooter. Then he was involved in another road accident and this left him far more physically disabled – he is now partially blind and is no longer mobile, and is facing mounting debt due to his inability to work.
Ten fights were held on the charity event night, including a special first fight by young boys Nut and Atur; followed by adult rounds.
Dam Wan won the women’s competition and B40,000 prize right, and Saenkeng was the men’s winner, taking away B60,000.
Next week the team from Sinbi will go to Nakhon Ratchasima to give the money to Chalam.
