Phuket Bike Week 2016 to generate B600mn says organiser

PHUKET: It is expected that Phuket Bike Week 2016 will generate more than B600 million in revenue for Phuket it was announced last Friday (Nov 13).

The announcement came during a meeting between Vice President of the Phuket Riders Club, Wittaya Singkalah; Big Bike Week 2014 organiser, Amarin Saranyakul and Phuket Governor, Chamreon Tippayapongtada held to discuss preparations for the annual big bike event.

Speaking at the event, Mr Wittaya said, “Phuket Bike Week was launched in 1994 and only 150 local bikers participated. We are now getting close to the 22nd year of the event and we expect more than 8,000 bikers join the ride.

“Big bike enthusiasts come from more than 25 countries to participate in this event, and the next edition will once again have two events, the first will be held from April 8-10 at Loma Park in Patong, the second at Saphan Hin on April 15-16.

As in previous years, Phuket Bike Week 2016 will feature a range of exciting activities and entertainment including a Big Bike Contest, International Music Festival, Miss Phuket Bike Week Contest, Tattoo Contest and Green Road Project, a campaign aimed at reducing global warming.

Phuket Bike Week 2016 is expected to welcome more than 5,000 Thai big bikers and 3,000 or more big bikers from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, Vietnam, U.S.A, Japan and Russia.
